Fear of preparing and making a wedding speeches

Your daughter or son is getting married and the thought of giving your reception speech is scaring you silly – you don’t even know where to begin!

The father of this particular bride came to me referred by a friend.  He was scared and anxious about his speech and expressed concern over being at his best and being able to set the right tone.  After all, this night was going to be the night to hand ‘his darling daughter’ over to her new husband.

It’s Ok to feel like that, daughters (and sons) are precious!  After relaxing and feeling comfortable with me he opened up and started sharing family stories.

Great speeches are the emotional highlight of a reception so together we worked on the feeling he wanted to create and on the content of his speech as I helped him to develop the stories.

I can show you how to do it, the same way I showed him.

Firts, we started with some simple delivery techniques and then we worked on a style that best suited him.  I encouraged him with lots of practice and he even enjoyed the process!

The reception was a huge success.  He told me afterward that ‘As I spoke some tears flowed in the audience but no one was embarrassed as I spoke with honesty and love, just like when we had practised’.

His wife told me his speech was ‘moving and beautiful’ and he ‘got thunderous applause from the guests’.

I helped him... I can help you too.

By showing him how to craft his speech his way and allowing him to face and overcome his fears of speaking, he became confident and happy and he put all the guests completely at ease.

Being anxious and worrying about whether you can or can’t prepare and deliver a speech only adds to your wedding ‘stress factor’ and prevents you from thinking clearly.   Yes, weddings are stressful, and emotional, but I can help you create a wonderful speech and coach you in just how to deliver it.

If this sounds like it would be helpful, please contact me -- I like to have an informal, no-cost meeting first to start building the connection and trust that is so important in planning for your very important event – your daughter’s wedding.
